Tribe Celebration Mardi Gras

Since inception in 2019, Tribe has been a driving force for LGBTQ+ inclusion at Dexus, championing initiatives to foster a workplace culture that is inclusive, visible and supportive. In recognition of these efforts, Dexus was awarded Bronze Employer Status on the Australian Workplace Equity Index in FY25 – the national benchmark on LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.

This year, Tribe built on its strong foundations by refreshing its committee structure, communications strategy and intranet presence to enhance visibility and engagement. New merchandise was also introduced to help foster a sense of community and pride across the organisation.

Tribe led a series of impactful events throughout the year, including:

  • Mardi Gras celebrations, featuring an internal educational webinar on the parade’s history and significance
  • Pride Month activations, and participation in the Midsumma Festival and Fair Day, reinforcing Dexus’s commitment to visibility and community engagement
  • The annual Wear It Purple (WIP) celebration, highlighted by a company-wide panel and networking session with Glen Hare, Treasurer of Wear It Purple. Glen shared powerful insights on visibility and allyship, complemented by a raffle, with proceeds matched by Dexus to support the organisation’s mission. WIP activations across Dexus workplaces and assets included a vibrant celebration at Kings Square in Perth, which helped to extend awareness and engagement across our national footprint.

In addition to these events, Dexus published Gender Affirmation Guidelines, designed to support both managers and employees in navigating the gender affirmation process. These guidelines reflect our broader commitment to creating a respectful and inclusive workplace where everyone feels seen, supported and valued.

To further embed inclusion into everyday practice, we launched online training titled Foundations of LGBT Inclusion into your workday, available to all staff. This complements inclusive policies such as Respect@Work, which reinforces our zero-tolerance approach to harassment and promotes a culture of dignity, safety, and respect.

Together, these initiatives demonstrate our commitment to fostering a workplace where LGBTQ+ employees feel empowered, respected and celebrated.
