We see our assets as spaces where communities can connect, pause and reflect. This year, we extended our partnership with the Black Dog Institute (BDI) to bring mental health conversations into our assets through art, building on a shared commitment to create connections for healthy hearts and minds across our communities.
Building First Nations stories into the heart of our precincts
- 30 June 2026
Our assets sit on Country and within communities with deep First Nations histories. Through our First Nations Arts Program, we use our spaces to share stories, honour culture and create space for connection. The Program is delivered in partnership with Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative, the longest-running Aboriginal-owned and run arts organisation in Australia.
Launched at 25 Martin Place, Sydney in 2025 with celebrated Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay artist Dennis Golding, the series Drawing from Gadigal explored the cultural significance of white clay - unearthed from beneath the streets of contemporary Sydney - and its connection to thousands of years of Gadigal heritage.
In 2026, we extended the program to Quay Quarter Tower in Sydney, partnering with Gweagal artist Shane Youngberry, of the Dharawal Nation with connections to the Dunghutti Nation. His series Gathered, Connected, One is embedded across both precincts, including within the doorways at Quay Quarter Tower. At its heart sits a fingerprint, a symbol of collective identity, with surrounding U-shapes, handprints and pathways representing people gathering, knowledge passing between generations, and the waterways and Country that connect communities across time.
The program is one of several art-based activations delivered under our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), alongside our Waterfront Brisbane project RAP, NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week activations, and our growing partnerships with First Nations suppliers, with our FY26, Indigenous supplier spend reaching almost $12.2 million.
As we progress to our Innovate RAP in FY27, the First Nations Arts Program will continue to grow, among other initiatives to deepen the connection between place, culture and community across the Dexus Platform.
