Sydney’s annual Vivid festival transforms the CBD’s iconic spaces with light installations, music and ideas. This year, the Gateway Sydney dining precinct at Circular Quay was morphed into an enchanting butterfly wonderland.
In collaboration with a local design studio, Gateway Sydney hosted a school program, The Science of Colour and Light, where Year 4 students learnt about how structures in nature alter light to create colour. The students created a unique butterfly installation named “Flutter” that went on display for the duration of the Vivid festival. Dexus supplied over 250 recycled butterfly kits to deliver this program.
We are proud to have once again been involved in Vivid Sydney, celebrating the vibrancy of leading destinations like Gateway Sydney and enhancing communities through the enduring relationships we have with our customers and communities.
We see our assets as spaces where communities can connect, pause and reflect. This year, we extended our partnership with the Black Dog Institute (BDI) to bring mental health conversations into our assets through art, building on a shared commitment to create connections for healthy hearts and minds across our communities.
Our assets sit on Country and within communities with deep First Nations histories. Through our First Nations Arts Program, we use our spaces to share stories, honour culture and create space for connection. The Program is delivered in partnership with Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative, the longest-running Aboriginal-owned and run arts organisation in Australia.
We strive to provide inclusive spaces at our assets and in our operations. Our retail centres are local gathering places, and we want every customer to feel safe, supported and welcome when they visit. This year, we introduced two nationally-recognised inclusion programs across our retail portfolio: the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program and the ACON Welcome Here Project.
