At Dexus, we are committed to building a more inclusive property industry by inspiring the next generation of female leaders. Through our long-standing support of the Property Council of Australia’s Girls in Property initiative and our own Future Leaders in Property (FLIP) program, we are helping young women see what is possible and empowering them to pursue it.
Driving reconciliation through strategic First Nations procurement partnerships
- 30 June 2025
The scale of our portfolio provides an opportunity to support First Nations businesses through strategic procurement decisions. In FY25, we established several strategic partnerships that not only deliver high-quality services but also contribute to meaningful outcomes for First Nations communities – aligning with Dexus’s reconciliation commitments.
One of the most significant partnerships formed this year was with Dimeo Indigenous, awarded a 5 year contract to provide cleaning services across our managed office, industrial and healthcare assets. This contract represents a strong commitment to First Nations partnerships, making up close to 13% of the total cleaning services awarded. Dimeo Indigenous is a 90% Indigenous-owned and 100% Indigenous-controlled joint venture supported by Dimeo Cleaning Services. Diemo Indigenous is uniquely structured with a portion of ownership held in an Indigenous Employment Trust, allowing for share distribution that directly benefits Indigenous employees.
Suppliers were evaluated across a range of criteria, including First Nations ownership and control, employment levels of first Nations peoples, engagement with majority owned First Nations businesses, and participation in community programs supporting First Nations peoples.
Dimeo Indigenous’ engagement supports education initiatives to remove barriers for First nations communities at Inner Sydney High School, Kaurna Plains Children's Centre, Keebra Park High School, Playford International College, and Moorgitji Community College.
We are also partnering with Southern Cross Pacific, an Indigenous-owned business to provide security services for select assets within New South Wales. Their mission to create employment pathways for First Nations people includes identifying and supporting potential candidates, assisting with administrative processes and providing financial support for security licences and vocational training.
These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to reconciliation through the operation of our assets. By embedding First Nations businesses into our supply chain and supporting community-led outcomes, we are advancing the objectives of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and contributing to a more inclusive and equitable future.
